What is Hypnosis? Hypnosis is a natural, highly focused state in which the conscious mind (one part of the mind) , does not interfere with an unconscious process (another part of the mind). It is basically being in a state of suggestible trance. If you have ever driven a car, read a book, watched a movie or taken a ride in an elevator you have experienced a trance state. We have all experienced an emotional reaction while watching a movie on the screen or while reading the text on the pages of a book. This happens because the mind suspends the ‘normal reality’ and crosses over into the reality of the book or movie and only then is someone able to experience emotional reactions to the story, as if it were real. So it is safe to say that it is a very normal thing to be in a trance state and we have all experienced it, on a daily basis.
Hypnosis is a powerful, everyday tool that one can use to bypass the conscious programming of the mind and open the doors into the unconscious mind. The unconscious mind can be seen as the ‘motherboard’ of all the programing and where changes to programming (habits, behaviours etc) can be made. Hypnosis makes this powerful process possible, but, only as long as the changes desired are congruent with someone’s morals and ethics. In other words, no-one can be forced to ‘do’ something during hypnosis that they do not really want to do.
So if you have been trying to make some changes in your life but for some reason you seem ‘stuck’ or unable to break some habits i.e. change your programming, hypnosis may just be the answer for you.
